Text Otto Website Edits Without Breaking Your SEO
The short answer
When you text Otto a change in your SCC Portal, your SEO settings and analytics are protected from accidental changes. Page addresses, titles, descriptions, and tracking are locked off from everyday edits, and Otto warns you before a change could affect how Google sees a page. Deliberate SEO changes go to a person on our team.
Coming soonOtto and the SCC Portal are coming soon. Until then, a real person on our team handles your website changes.
The problem
Making website edits easy has a hidden risk. The faster anyone can change a page, the easier it is to change the wrong thing. Renaming a product page can change its web address and break every link and search result pointing to it. Rewriting a heading can drop the exact phrase customers search for. Deleting an “old” page can wipe out the one Google was sending people to.
For a small online shop, these slips are expensive and quiet. You don’t get an error message. Sales from search just slowly drop, and it can take weeks to notice and longer to recover.
How it works
- You text Otto an edit in your portal as usual, like “rename the Summer Collection page to Warm Weather Picks and update the intro.”
- Otto separates the request into what he can safely do (the visible heading and intro text) and what touches protected SEO settings (the page address and title).
- He makes the safe changes on a preview and tells you plainly which parts he left alone and why.
- If you want the protected parts changed too, Otto passes that to a person on our team, who updates it with the right redirect in place.
- You approve the preview, it goes live, and the change is saved in version history.
Human checkpoints
A person approves every change, with an extra lock on the settings that matter most to search.
- You approve every visible change before it goes live.
- SEO settings and analytics can’t be changed through the everyday edits you text to Otto at all.
- Intentional SEO changes are made by a person, not by Otto.
- Our monthly reporting checks Google Search Console for new problems.
What it doesn’t do
This protects the SEO you already have. It isn’t an SEO growth campaign, and it won’t write new content to chase rankings or promise you’ll move up in Google. It also can’t control things outside your site, like how a marketplace or social platform lists your products. If ranking higher is your main goal, that’s a separate conversation, and we’ll be honest about what’s realistic.
Illustrative outcome
Picture a small online shop owner renaming a seasonal collection from their phone. The new name shows up on the page right away, and Otto mentions that the page address stayed the same to protect search traffic. The shop gets its fresh look without the slow, silent drop in search visitors that a careless rename can cause.
